Chris Pitts, born into a family of blues musicians, inherited a sound passed down through several generations of his family.  At the age of five Chris would sneak away to play his brother’s guitar, and at thirteen his parents purchased his first electric guitar.  He performed his first gig with his uncle, Steve Nelson, at This Is It, a blues club located on Memphis’ Beale Street, and later became the lead guitarist at the most famous Memphis Blues Club, Wild Bill’s, after the passing of Big Lucky Carter. Pitts has performed with some of the best in the Blues genre, including Bobby Rush, Latimore, Blind Mississippi Morris, Ms. Ruby Wilson and Lil Howlin’ Wolf.

After touring for many years with the famous Memphis Soul Survivors, and the Mississippi Bigfoot European tour in 2016, Pitts decided to venture out on his own musical journey, gathering friends to form his new group Chris Pitts & The Memphis Prime.  Fronted by Chris on lead guitar and vocals, the group includes Jaylen Brown on bass and Leon Edwards on drums.  Their sound reverberates with depth, passion and licks that are inspired by legendary blues men, and resonates the feeling of the real deal.

Chris Pitts & The Memphis Prime features favorites from blues stars Albert King, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimi Hendrix and others, and won the hearts of blues fans at the iconic blues club Ground Zero in Clarksdale with their dynamic performance.  Chris Pitts & The Memphis Prime is keeping the blues alive in the South!!
